Apartment in Šmrika

Kraljevica

The interior design of a younger male client’s apartment in Šmrika was conceived as a contemporary, comfortable, and visually calm whole. The space, originally in a shell-and-core phase, was transformed into an elegantly shaped interior in which dark monochromatic tones, warm wooden textures, and refined stone finishes flow together to create a harmonious and fluid ambiance.

The central area of the home defines the modern character of the entire interior: dark matte surfaces, stone patterns with pronounced texture, and linear lighting create a striking contrast that radiates clarity of form and contemporary style. The living room enriches the atmosphere with warmer materials and soft lighting accents, while carefully designed details — from wooden wall claddings to integrated niches and minimalist furniture — emphasize the sense of spaciousness and elegance.

The spatial dynamics of the apartment are built through a gradual opening from the entrance toward the living area, creating a sense of an intimate, thoughtfully organized home. The bedrooms follow the same aesthetic rhythm, highlighting calmness, softness, and simplicity through discreet lighting, natural tones, and tactile materials. The bathrooms are designed with a bolder, more luxurious expression, featuring dark ceramic tiles and clean lines that bring an additional layer of character and sophistication.

The entire project merges the aesthetics of contemporary minimalism with warmth and comfort, reflecting the lifestyle and preferences of a younger individual and creating a home that feels strong, elegant, and relaxing at the same time.

What is successful design?

For an apartment design to be successful, its elements must communicate with one another, respond to each other, and create a sense of balance.
